Family Files
The Family Files are comprised of articles about engagements, retirements, weddings, deaths, military service, etc., about people in the Downingtown area. The Family Files collection contains over 9,000 names, and is constantly being updated. They primarily include articles from the 1970’s to the present, but also include some articles which were clipped from earlier newspapers.
The Family Files Index is organized by the last name, and the first letter of the first name. Hence the cards often contain articles about several persons who have the same last name and the same first
initial. A third column, which has been added to the index, is called “family genealogy.” These files include miscellaneous information about a family. Some have family trees and printed material about a family copied from other sources.
